The Town Mouse/Country Mouse Project

Taylor

Jefferys Taylor's version of the fable comes from a larger fable book titled Aesop in Rhyme, with Some Originals. True to his word, Taylor seems to have actually composed a new rhyming version of the fable here (though his version was later "borrowed" by with some alterations by Park (4) )

Though Taylor has composed a new variant, he uses story elements from Horace (56) and Croxall (41) most notably the country foods he employs. This version is also unique (I think) in that the country mouse brings her whole family along with her to Town, and their stay is implied to be permanent (until, of course, the cats show up).
