Winter

Milo Winter wrote and illustrated one of the most popular 20th century versions of Aesop's fables, The Aesop for Children. The illustration depicted here is another showing the mice at the exact moment they are interrupted. Winter's illustration is a bit more comic than Dore's, which like a lot of Dore's artwork has a vague feeling of oppression or dread. Winter's version is probably a lot lighter because he's writing for children.
